Gipton and Harehills Neighbourhood Policing Team continue to take action to tackle drug dealing, organised crime, anti-social behaviour, road safety concerns and criminality associated with local businesses. Working alongside partner agencies through the CommUnity Harehills Clear, Hold, Build initiative, officers have delivered a range of enforcement activity aimed at keeping local communities safe. You Said: Residents told us they wanted to see positive action taken against: Drug dealing, organised crime and street drinking in Harehills. Road safety concerns, particularly the misuse of Electric Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs). Repeat offenders causing issues for businesses and retailers. Businesses linked to crime and anti-social behaviour. Increased police visibility and engagement within local communities. We Did: To address these concerns, officers have: Conducted targeted patrols, days of action and enforcement operations with partner agencies through CommUnity Harehills. Worked with the Leeds District Off-Road Bike Team to tackle nuisance and illegally used EAPCs and motorcycles. Secured Criminal Behaviour Orders against prolific shoplifting offenders. Carried out multi-agency operations with partners including Leeds City Council, HMRC and Immigration Enforcement. Continued to engage with residents through community events, school visits and the Fusion 8 Community Hub. Tackling Drug Dealing, Organised Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour The activity undertaken has resulted in: Warrants being executed. Arrests being made. Drugs, cash and weapons being seized. Community Protection Notice warnings being issued. Six partial premise closure orders being obtained. One full premise closure order being obtained. Further enforcement, safeguarding and disruption activity carried out alongside partner agencies. Road Safety Enforcement To address concerns around road safety and EAPCs: Targeted enforcement activity was carried out with the Leeds District Off-Road Bike Team during Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week. EAPCs and motorcycles were seized under Section 59 powers. Traffic Offence Reports issued for motoring offences. Supporting Local Businesses To tackle crime and anti-social behaviour affecting businesses: Several Criminal Behaviour Orders were secured against repeat shoplifters, banning them from Co-op stores across Leeds and other retail premises where offences had been committed. A multi-agency day of action targeted businesses suspected of facilitating criminality, resulting in a range of enforcement outcomes. Community Engagement Officers continue to engage with residents through: Community events and meetings. School visits and educational engagement opportunities. The Fusion 8 Community Hub, providing opportunities for residents to speak with local officers and raise concerns. Moving Forward The local business priority has been updated to focus on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour at and around businesses in Harehills, including premises suspected of facilitating criminal activity, following concerns raised by residents at the Police and Community Together Meeting yesterday evening (8th July 2026). Enforcement action, proactive patrols and community engagement will continue in line with local priorities and the CommUnity Harehills initiative.
